Week 23 - Monthly Popwork check-ins are now available 📆

Shared by Johann • January 10, 2023

Hi there 👋

Glad to share we released something new on Popwork today: check-ins can now be scheduled with a monthly frequency 📆

Choosing the monthly frequency

If you feel that you only want to have monthly 1:1 conversations with one of your team members, it is now possible with Popwork.

To do so, go into Parameters > Team members and select said team member. You can now use the drop down menu to choose the monthly frequency.

Note that you are also able to choose the week of the month you want to set the check-ins for.

Other improvements:

  • Renamed “Next steps” “Action items” to bring more clarity
  • Rephrased the workload question into “How satisfied are you with your current workload?”
  • Fixed the “1:1 check-in ongoing” status which was displaying even when there were no check-in to complete soon

Week 20 - Managers can visualize and prepare 1-to-1 meetings in advance 👓

Managers can now visualize which questions are going to be asked in the upcoming check-in for each of their team members. Always useful when you use custom questions or have monthly mood or objectives updates coming up!

To visualize an upcoming ritual on Popwork, go to your team member’s workspace and uncollapse the

upcoming ritual card by clicking on the arrow symbol. You will be able to see each of the questions of the given check-in.

Managers can also prepare the upcoming 1-to-1 meeting by adding topics they want to discuss in the Manager’s topics card or add action items in the Next steps card.

Week 19 - Answer missed and upcoming check-ins 🗓

Shared by Florian • January 10, 2023

In real life, one-to-one meetings are often moved by a day or two because one is out of office, or the other has a super important client meeting, and that’s ok.

This is why we are introducing an important change to make answering check-ins much more flexible. It’s now possible to complete a check-in ahead of time or after its due date.

This being said, we are keeping the “check-in window” and reminders which help ritualize one-to-one meetings. However, the ability to answer check-ins ahead of time or late makes the Popwork frictionless and better fitted into your flow of work.

How to answer a missed check-in?

To complete a missed check-in, team members simply have to click on Complete late on the corresponding check-in card.

How to answer a check-in in advance?

To start answering the next check-in in advance, team members will need to click on Prepare on the upcoming check-in card. Check-in answers are automatically saved as a draft after each step and it is even possible to share the check-in in advance.

Other improvements:

  • Added the check-in questions to be answered by the team member on the ritual card
  • Added a notification icon in the menu to help team members spot when a check-in is due
  • Improved the ritual card layout to help better differentiate sections and know who needs to do what
  • Added a rule to automatically remove expired and uncompleted rituals to free up timelines from empty ritual cards
  • Added the name of labels on the check-in progress bar
  • Added visual confirmation of saved content in the check-in panel header

Shared by Florian • January 10, 2023

These past weeks, we've been focused on resolving minor UX issues and latent bugs. In the background, we've added some important building blocks that will enable us to ship very interesting new features in the coming weeks.

New 🔥

  • Added new profile menu for easier access to log out, help center and changelog

Improved ✨

  • Revamped “My profile” page to make it more user friendly
  • Made comment pop over fully responsive
  • Made pop over in onboarding fully responsive and scrollable

Fixed 🐞

  • Fixed issue with tooltips which where not displaying correctly
  • Fixed copy & paste issue in private notes
  • Fixed visual glitch when assigning next steps to someone else

In parallel, we are making good progress on more structuring evolutions to:

Our release this week focuses on fixing several minor bugs which were affecting the Popwork experience.

  • Changed the default profile pic generated for users
  • Fixed the bug affecting custom question deletion
  • Fixed the Objectives pop-over visualization bug
  • Fixed the bug affecting comments display in the Next Steps view

In parallel, we're working hard to ship our solution to allow team members to answer missed and upcoming check-ins. It requires quite a few deep changes in the core logic of the app so please with us.

Week 7 - New toolbar for better workspace navigation 🌀

Aurelia avatar
Shared by Aurelia • January 10, 2023

After introducing a new left sidebar to navigate team members and settings, we’re doubling down on our navigation efforts with a new toolbar to navigate people’s workspaces.

This new toolbar helps you browse faster through check-in feeds, next steps, objectives and private notes.

  • First, you’ll be able to use Filters to select the information you want to visualize for that given team member (such as Mood, Achievements or Challenges for example).
  • Then, we’re introducing two quick view buttons to enable you to see Next steps and Objectives in a single click.
  • Finally, Private Notes can now be accessed through the top right corner button of your interface.

This also comes with a (much) better navigation experience on mobile.

Other improvements:

  • Added possibility to opt out from unread check-in reminders and comments email notifications
  • Fixed private notes panel on mobile which was preventing from adding new notes on iOS

Week 5 - Simpler teams and settings navigation 🕹️🤩

Aurelia avatar
Shared by Aurelia • January 10, 2023

We’re introducing a new, simpler way to navigate in the Popwork app.

Everything now happens in a new left sidebar: quick access to teams, team members and settings. So simple, it’s quite difficult to write more about it…

It’s designed to give you a one-click access to any of your team members. No more switching between teams or between your team member and manager workspaces.

Finally, access to settings has also been made easier, regrouping all account and team settings into a single view.

  • Simply, go Settings > Profile to edit your account details (profile picture, name, email and language preferences).
  • Go to Settings > Team to add or remove team members and manage your team rituals.

This new navigation panel is also available on mobile.

Other improvements:

  • Redesigned blank avatars to help you scan team members faster
  • Added "cmd or ctrl + click" shortcut to open a workspace in a new tab
  • Removed systematic redirection to team Dashboard
  • Fixed rules behind current mood overview in team Dashboard for smarter suggestions
  • Fixed links to comment or check-in answers in email notifications which now point to the right place
  • Set Weekly check-in as default check-in for new team members, even if Monthly step back is due

Objectives

Week 3 - Delete an objective 🎯

Florian avatar
Shared by Florian • January 10, 2023

Quick but important addition - we’ve just added the possibility to Delete an objective. This may be relevant if you like to get rid of an open objective, and not only Close it.

To Delete an objective, go to Select a view > Objectives > Edit > Delete.

Popwork can help you reflect on the progress of your objectives on a monthly basis. By objectives we mean, what you want to achieve in the medium to long term (e.g. next quarter).

If you already have clearly defined objectives, no need to reinvent the wheel: simply copy-paste them into Popwork. In the second half of each month, Popwork will request through the check-in a quick status update for each objective. To share progress, ask for support or raise a red flag.

On a separate note, it’s now also possible select answers if you like to copy and paste content somewhere in or outside Popwork ;)

Week 2 - Faster browsing and fixed loading ⚡️

Florian avatar
Shared by Florian • January 10, 2023

We've made a series of improvements to reduce loading times in Popwork. It should feel more snappy when navigating between different views or profiles.

We've also added a new 'Load more' button, and fixed an issue that was preventing some historical data to load properly.

This should help in this beginning of the year and for the ongoing 2021 reviews.

Week 1 - Filter on next steps 👀

Florian avatar
Shared by Florian • January 10, 2023

We’ve begun rolling out a new “Next steps” view on Popwork to help managers and team members visualize opened and closed next steps in a single click. Super handy to follow up week on week and make sure an important topic doesn’t fall out of the radar.

This view can be accessed from the top menu in each team member workspace, by choosing the “Next steps” view in the drop-down list.

As a reminder, next steps can be added after a check-in to help managers and team members align on what needs to be followed up upon. Next steps can be assigned at any time and ticked off once completed.
